“Our job to prepare pupils for the future and all the challenges it brings, and money is one of the biggest ones.”
"78% of LifeSavers schools agree that it has helped embed financial education within the school curriculum"
(From LifeSavers Evaluation Report)
“What I like about LifeSavers is that it is a holistic programme. A savings club on its own would be fun, but it wouldn’t gain much momentum. The financial education on its own could be effective, but would be a bit abstract. Combining the two, and involving parents, helps maximise the benefit from each.”
"It’s a very good programme. Our teachers now have the skills, confidence and resources they need, and it’s highlighted to them and us the importance of financial education. I have no doubt that it’s benefiting our pupils and it looks good with Ofsted.”
Helping children flourish, empowering schools to deliver financial education in the primary years
LifeSavers is the most systematic model of financial education available to primaries in the UK today. It equips school leadership teams with the tools and resources to instil the knowledge, attitudes and skills children need to manage money wisely, in ways that can:
LifeSavers is rooted in values and engages children in deeper critical thinking, benefiting them in their lives at school and home. But perhaps the thing that makes LifeSavers effective is that children are energised by the programme and teachers love using it. That’s why schools invest in LifeSavers. It involves the whole school in planning how to embed it in schemes of work, assemblies and the school environment but needn’t require additional classroom time. For schools that seek optimal results, it involves establishing a school savings club run by Year 5s and 6s. The benefits to pupils, the school and parents are tangible and this is why schools that already do the most with LifeSavers plan to do more.
On the Money is a one-day conference designed to give children the best financial start in life by equipping teaching leads and headteachers to incorporate the LifeSavers approach to financial education and wider learning into their schools, and tailor it to each school’s unique aims and context.
